For “to depend on something (n.) or someone (pron.)”, we say “ขึ้นอยู่กับ” [keûn yùu kàp] in Thai. For example, “ทุกอย่างขึ้นอยู่กับการตัดสินใจของเธอ” [túk yàang keûn yùu kàp kaan tàt sĭn jai kŏng ter] Everything depends on your decision. When it’s not just a noun or a pronoun, we use “ขึ้นอยู่กับว่า” [keûn yùu kàp wâa] e.g. “ฉันจะซื้อหรือไม่ซื้อขึ้นอยู่กับว่าราคาเท่าไหร่” [Chán jà séu rěu mâi séu keûn yùu kàp wâa raakaa tâo rài ] Whether I will buy it or not, it depends on how much it costs. To be less formal, you can say “ก็แล้วแต่(ว่า)..” [kôr léaw tàe (wâa)] instead. And for just “it depends!”, we say “(ก็)แล้วแต่” [(kôr) léaw tàe] as well. For “up to you”, we say “แล้วแต่คุณ” [léaw tàe khun].
