Did you know?

In Thai, we use the same word for “nephew,” “niece,” “grandson” and “granddaughter,” which is “หลาน” [lǎan]. To be more specific about their gender, you can say as follows;

หลานชาย [lǎan chaai] Nephew, grandson 
หลานสาว [lǎan sǎo] Niece, granddaughter
